How to Use the Historic Rivers Chapter Web Site
This site is maintained to provide information for Master Naturalists and members of the community interested in issues and activities related to the Natural Resources in the Historic Rivers area of Virginia. This page provides information on how to use these pages.
The illustration below shows the general layout of our pages.
  The top area always provides main navigation buttons
   
  title bar shows current page title
the left side bar provides navigation within a page, and may be different from page to page.  
 
The main display area changes to show information about the subject selected in the left side nav bar
 
The Navigation buttons at Top provide instant access to all major areas of the site.
A Title Bar shows the Current web site area, and in some cases provides addition information about that area.
A navigation panel to the left provides selections to display in the main area of the page.
The content in the main area may show additional links, a document or another web site.
Each document link has an icon, a title and a description.
The icon to the left of the document title shows the kind of document. Depending on the document type, it may load into the main area or may bring up a new web browser for you to use. The current document type icons you will see are:
  a PDF document an MP3 audio file
  a Web link a Wav audio file
  a link to another page on this site an MS Excel document
  a MS Word document an MS Powerpoint document
  a Webcast or Podcast or links to them Audio book (cd, tape, etc)
  Printed book or pamphlet reference Videos (DVDs or VHS Tapes)
    pressing Home returns you to the main page
    pressing Calendar brings up the Historic Rivers Chapter Calendar. The calendar contains events for both chapter members and for interested members of the community.
    pressing Documents brings up a navigation bar to the left that provides various categories of documents arranged by subject.
    pressing Projects shows a list of projects supported by the Historic Rivers Chapter. Virginia Master Naturalists are required to do at least 40 hours of volunteer work in approved projects each year. In many instances, the activities we support need more volunteers than we can provide. Information on non Master Naturalist volunteering is listed where available.
    pressing Photos allows you to view photos of our activities and of the Natural Resources in our community.
    pressing Links provides lists of web links to wonderful sites relating to our natural ressources. You can also find links to other Master Naturalists chapters in Virginia and in other states.
    pressing Training brings up lists of naturalist training opportunities in our area. Virginia Master Naturalists are required to take both initial training and advanced training each year. Many of the training activities we use are also open to the public as well.
    pressing Members will bring up a Username & Password entry box. The Information in the member pages is not open to the general public.
