Eight members of Historic Rivers Chapter of VA Master Naturalist answered the Frog Call Saturday night from Anne Wright, Coordinator of Life Sciences Outreach Education and Assistant Professor, Biology at VCU. Anne had the grill going down by the James “Rivah” and some wonderful sausages to share. Guests brought lots of fresh fruit, salads and chips to share.
After dinner DGIF Wildlife Biologist Dr. Lou Verner refreshed our ears on the frog and toad calls we were likely to hear around the Center in late June.
Several traveled with Lou and Anne Wright, to the Harrison Lake Fish Hatchery to listen for frogs. Highlight at the hatchery was Barking Treefrog, a State Endangered species — heard and seen!
